FUMC's
Food Pantry - This project provides food for
those who come to the church hungry and those with hungry families at
home. Boxes of food items or an individual Snack Pack are given to those
in need. You may bring food items at any time and place them in the
bin at the kitchen door. (See list of
suggested items in box. Items with a *star
are especially needed.)
Do not bring: staples (such as sugar, flour, cornmeal,
spices), perishables, frozen foods, dated items such as chips, bread,
etc. Check the shelf life on all items.

The Community
Food Pantry: FUMC is asked to bring
dried beans and canned collard greens. Bring these items to the
bins beside the drink machine anytime during the month. They are taken to the Pantry for distribution.
Annual Canned Food Drive - The
youth of the church participate with other youth groups in the Canned
Food Drive for the Community Food Pantry. Members of many churches provide
food and the youth of the community collect and deliver it to the
Pantry.
The Shoebox Ministry
provides boxes of toiletries, small toys and items of inspiration for
adults and children. The boxes are distributed by the Community Food Pantry
to those who come for food. If you or your group would
like to help with this project, contact Michelle Street.
Habitat for Humanity - FUMC
supports Habitat financially each month, and many church members are actively involved in
the program. In addition members assist each year
with the Santa House with proceeds going to Habitat.
Greenwood Interfaith Ministries Community
Kitchen -
The church provides support for this new ministry. The project feeds homeless and
indigent persons in downtown Greenwood. Teams from the church
serve on the 4th Thursday of each month. To volunteer to
serve contact the church office.
Apportionments (Fair Share Askings)
- The Apportionments of the Mississippi Conference go to support many
important outreach ministries and projects of the church, including
institutions, the Choctaw Indian Mission, the Children's Home, and
hospital programs.
Group Projects - Several classes
and groups in the church regularly support and visit local nursing homes
and institutions like Golden Age, Beacon Harbor and Indywood.
The Advance
- These are Global missions chosen by the General Board of
Ministries and assigned a number. 100% of all funds given to that
Advance number go directly to that project. Classes, churches,
individuals and groups can give to The Advance. A list of
projects is available in the church office or at www.gbgm-umc.org./give/advance.
