The city of Greenwood is proud of its Old South heritage and is working to preserve the feel of its historic buildings, brick streets, blues heritage, cotton fields, and rivers.

Greenwood has approximately 19,000 people, and Leflore County has about 37,000.  There are six banks, a 227-bed hospital, several major industries and a large number of churches.  In addition there are many colleges and extensions nearby.

A number of festivals and special events occur here each year including Fourth of July Celebration, 300 Oaks Road Race, Roy Martin Delta Band Festival, and downtown festivals.
