The Council on Ministries is the body that plans and implements the programs of the church.  According to the Discipline (Par. 258), "It shall consider, develop, and coordinate goals and program proposals for the church's mission."  All Chairpersons of programmatic committees serve as members of the Council.  The body meets monthly on the first Sunday at 5 pm.  The chairperson is Lila Karrer.

August 10, 2008

EDUCATION Children's: September 28th planned Lord's Prayer Sunday. The children will recite the Lord's Prayer together and perform. October 12th is Children's Sabbath. Children's Christmas Program in Russell Annex on December 7th. 

Youth: Participating in the annual canned food drive. Planning to attend the "Overflow" at Camp Lake Stephens in December. Sue Bailey is now our youth director and is also heading up the Safe Sanctuary program. 

Adult: A trip is planned for Mistletoe Market on October 7th. Bus will leave at 9:30. Upcoming plans are being made for Camp Lake Stephens for adult activities for a day and also a trip to Canton in December. 

Sunday School: With the new Safe Sanctuary program, two adults are needed in each child's classroom. Any volunteers are welcome. 

SAFE SANCTUARY: Sue Bailey will keep us updated. 

EVANGELISM COMMITTEE Still working on plans to get Parent's Night Out up and going in the fall. 

UMW Plans to assist with the UMW Annual Meeting at St. John's United Methodist Church on September 26th & 27th. 

MISSION COMMITTEE Push is on for Flood Buckets. 

FAMILY MINISTRIES August Birthday Bash was very successful. Sandwiches and desserts planned for Sept 28th. October Fall Festival being planned. November Loyalty Sunday. 

HEALTH & WELLNESS Tha Chi classes have begun. Participation in the 300 Oaks Road Race for September 20th. 

COMMUNICATIONS Website has new update with music as you view site. Upcoming survey to determine which website pages are most useful to members and what new pages need to be developed. 

PASTOR September 14th at 3PM First Presbyterian Church will be hosting an actor who portrays John Wesley. We would like everyone to support this event. There will be no evening worship that evening so all may attend. Charge conference is October 12th; all reports should be in by September 22nd. 

MUSIC Beverly invites anyone interested in joining the choir to come on. They will be working on the Christmas music.

Council on Ministries met June 22nd.

Update for additions and changes from last report as follows.

EDUCATION Children's: Nothing new to report 

Youth: Nothing new to report 

Adult: There is currently a women's Siesta Summer Bible Study entitled "No Other Gods" by Kelly Minter. It meets bi-weekly at different members' homes for supper and the study. 

Sunday School: Promotion Sunday is set for August 10th. 

VBS: BEACH PARTY, Surfin' Through the Scriptures will be Monday, July 7th through Friday July 11th from 8AM to 11AM with an ending celebration on Friday night. 

SAFE SANCTUARY: No report yet on this. Maybe Sue Bailey could update. 

PRAYER COMMITTEE Nothing new to report 

NURTURE COMMITTEE Nothing new to report 

EVANGELISM COMMITTEE Still working on plans to get Parent's Night Out up and going in the fall. 

SHUT-INS Added James Rimmer to list. 

UMW Nothing new to report 

MISSION COMMITTEE Clarification. Committee DOES send monthly donation to the Ministerial Association as reported on March 11th.

FAMILY MINISTRIES Planning on Watermelon after July 27th Praise Band.

PASTOR Announced that September 14th at 3PM First Presbyterian Church will be hosting an actor who portrays John Wesley. More information will be available as the date draws nearer. We will be supporting event. There will be no evening worship that evening so all may attend. 

MUSIC Praise Band has tentative plans to do some swaping with St. John's praise band for Sunday evening entertaining. Our band will play at St. John's and their band will play here. Still working on the final details for these plans.
